Graffiti in wet cement, peace sign symbol, NE 42nd Ave.
Gas meter art decal on side of building just off NE Alberta St.
The whole rest of this wall had been painted over carelessly with white paint, presumably to cover up some large graffiti (and there was fresh large graffiti on that coat of white paint, go figure), but this little maybe foot and a half square had been left alone so that the fake gas meter could remain visible.
It was striking from across the street, where it wasn’t immediately clear that the meter was fake but the lack of depth at that distance was just enough to register as wrong to my brain. Nice little bit of banal surrealism.
Maroon spray paint stencil graffiti riffing on Shepard Fairey, Ed O’Neill (presumably as Ed Bundy from Married With Children) over “DISOBEY”, N Lombard St.
There was also a graffiti of Ron Jeremy nearby with a QR code speech bubble sticker next to it, but I thought this one was more interesting.
Graffiti on wall, “I <3 this blog”, backside of St. Johns Cinema, N Lombard/Ivanhoe alley.
I’m not even sure what blog it’s referring to. Was presumably not left there by a psychic. A ton of graffiti in this doorway cubbyhole, reads more like a bulletin board or a yearbook than anything.
Guy came out the door abruptly while I was taking photos, to chuck out a cigarette butt for whatever reason. We startled each other; he said hello, I said hello back.
Graffiti sticker on sign pole, halftone-style mulleted head of Kurt Russell as Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China, SE Hawthorne Blvd.
I had such a crush on Kim Cattral when I was a kid.
