“Lennier” Babylon Five action figure, with Minbari Cruiser accessory, in box.  “AGES 4 AND UP”.  In the living room.
Recent gift from my wife, on account of my being fond of the character but also of Bill Mumy, the actor who played him. A couple of other Mumy achievements of note: playing young Will “Danger!” Robinson in the old Lost In Space television show; being half of comedy song duo Barnes & Barnes, best known for their Dr. Demento classic Fish Heads.  (High concept music video directed and starring Bill “Game over, man!  Game over!” Paxton.)
We got into Bab 5 during college at my friend Victor’s prompting; I’d seen the occasional episode on network TV but dismissed it as cheap and unengaging, but in the grip of an evangelist willing to make a case for the show we found that it was actually cheap but pretty engaging indeed.  It gets off to as rocky a start as any space franchise I can think of, but there’s a lot of good storytelling in there if you can get past the production values and badly dated computer fx and the occasional festering stinker of an episode.
And so but at some point during those college screenings, I started shouting Bill Mumy’s name when it came up in the credits.  “BILLLL MUUUUMMMMMYYYYYYY,” I would shout, for reasons not even clear to me at this point.  It became a sort of ritual.
